Flesh Tunnel Piercing

A flesh tunnel is a type of body piercing jewelry. A flesh tunnel is a hollow tunnel, usually used in stretched, bored, punched out, or scalpelled piercings, most commonly used for large gauge ear lobe piercings.
A flesh plug is just a solid variation of a flesh tunnel and the two are interchangable. Some people may choose to wear a flesh tunnel instead of a flesh plug because they weigh less, especially at larger sizes. A flesh tunnel may be worn with a ball closure ring or any other object passed through them.
A flesh tunnel can be made from many materials. Titanium, Surgical steel, glass, silicone, acrylic plastic and a variety of natural materials, including amber, bone, wood, stone, horn, and bamboo, all of which are common materials for flesh tunnels.
A flesh tunnel, like a flesh plug, may contain a variety of decorative inlays or semi-precious stones. Some flesh tunnels have flares at one or both ends to keep the jewelry from falling out.
In the absence of flares, a groove is made near the edges to allow a rubber or silicone o-ring to hold the jewelry in place. A flesh tunnel can also be referred to as a spool, or earlet.
